Autumn 2011
This season saw the club return to it's winning form with all players contributing to us claiming the Champion Club title for the season. From our 15 teams we ended up with 12 teams in the finals, 4 minor premiers, 3 premiers and 3 runners-up.
Premiers
Div 1 – Tim Manning, Huw Geddes, Shane Gurney, Trev Scorer
Div 4 – Rob Moon, Jayson Brenton, Jeremy Keen(res), Alan Featherston
Div 9 – Tom Rueger, Leigh Woodbridge, John Mannweiler
Runners-up
Div 9 - James Gunn, Justin Caldwell, Trent Greentree
Div 10 – Mick Moon, Richard Bennett, Trent Greentree(res), Phil Gallagher
Div 16 – Michael Green, Joseph Tonna, Ben Hunt, Scott White
Div 1 - 2-2, win on games
Sweet revenge for last season, 2 rubbers all, won on games. The result capped off a terrific season for the team;
Trev - down in a hard 5 setter to a plucky junior – but won a valuable 2 games.
Shane G – showing exactly why he’s nicknamed “textbook”, almost faultless display to win 3-0
Huw – a hard ask against an emerging junior, gave 100% but down in 3
Tim – needing a win to secure the pennant – ridiculously good squash that was appreciated by all watching – a dominant win in 3
Div 4 - 3-0 win
Although missing their number 1 player (Rob M), everyone lifted for a 3-0 win, only conceding 1 game;
Jayson – peaked at exactly the right time, convincing win in 3
Alan – a little slow out of the blocks, but nice long and short game once he got going – 3-1 win
Jeremy – with the job already done, a 3-0 win in a no-pressure match
Div 9 - 3-0 win
Local derby with the Queanbeyan 1 team confirming their season dominance with a 3-0 win over the Queanbeyan 2 team.
At number 1 Tom had a very close win over James G 3-1, but 31 points each! Tom was forced to do a lot of running, and an ankle injury to James probably shortened a very good match in Toms favour.
Justin then went out to try and turn things around for the Q2 side. In a glimmer of hope he got the first game, but then a tenacious (and fit) Leigh fought hard to win the next 3 for the Q1 team to take an unassailable lead.
With the night already decided, John M continued his good season form to record a 3-0 win over a tiring Trent, who was obviously feeling the effects of the previous nights 5 setter.
Div 10 - 1-2 loss
Didn’t get to see a whole lot of these matches, but a 1-2 loss that come down to the last match;
Phil – competitive loss in 4
Mick M – got the night back on level terms with a strong 3-0 win
Trent – a nail-bitter that came down to a 5 setter, unfortunately got pipped at the post.
Div 16 - 1-3 loss
A very close 3-1 loss, that could easily gone the other way except for a few crucial points;
Ben – found things a lot easier when he got some depth in his game, rewarded with a win. (mildly distracted with a baby imminently due!)
Joe – difficult game against a hard running opponent, 100% commitment including diving to make shots, just down in 5.
Scott W – unfortunate I didn’t get to see this match – but I understand a loss against a very strong reserve. A competitive season though.
Michael G – again didn’t see this match, but came up against a fast and hard hitting opponent.
