On the 13th February 2011 Queanbeyan Leagues Squash Club held a Junior "Come n Try" and Junior Pennant Registration Day at the University of Canberra courts.

 

The day was designed to attract local North Canberran children and parents to the courts to see just how much fun squash can be and for children already into squash a chance to register for the upcoming Junior Autumn Pennant competition.

 

On the day we had some juniors already preparing for the competition on the courts and they were joined by another 5 local children interested in finding out about squash as a sport.

 

The day was a success as the parents were able to see the passion for squash displayed by our members and the juniors enjoyed the on-court fun as well as a snag from the sausage sizzle.

 

The result of the afternoon was a total of six juniors agreeing to participate in the upcoming competition and a number of others interested in continuing participation at a social level at Sunday junior practice (maybe next season we will get them into pennants).

 

The day could not have been a success with out the support of Huw Geddes, Steve Fox, Justin Caldwell, Lorraine Fitzgerald, Daniel MacPherson, Mitchell Fox, Naveen Wijemanne, Melanie Keen (posters/flyers) and the ever reliable Jeremy Keen.
